Fear Limits You – Taylor’s Mental Wellness Campaign 2015

[By Oswald Teemak]

F.L.Y - Final Version2

We all have something that we yearn for, be it making a change in the world, inventing something, or making a difference in some way. I believe we all have the potential to become whatever we want to be – though perhaps only some develop their dreams into reality. So why is it that some people’s dreams never come true?

It could be because of the feeling of “FEAR”.

Fear limits you and in order for one to succeed, he/she must be able to go beyond the fear of failure, beyond the fear of being judged, or for any other reason that prevents the individual from moving forward. In order for a person to succeed, one must be able to take on the challenge, and not allow fear and anxiety to interfere with their successes.

Taylor’s Mental Wellness Campaign 2015 is an annual event conducted here at Taylor’s University Lakesie Campus, and this year’s theme is, “Fear Limits You”. The campaign aims to educate students and staff on why fear can interfere with our goals and dreams. One of the main highlights of the event is a talk by Mr. Gerald Raj Sundram from the Shine Award Centre. Students who have attended the Shine Discovery Sessions appreciate his performance as a motivational speaker and it is safe to assume that he will bring the same inspirational essence to this campaign.

There will also be booths where students can learn relaxation techniques to overcome fear as well as activities that will challenge students and their perception of fear. Certainly this event is one not to be missed, because we experience fear in one way or another, and learning to overcome our fears will serve us well in the long run.

The event takes place on October 13, 2015 at the Student Life Centre Foyer from 10am to 3pm. All are welcome. For more information please refer to the poster attached and register here
