Just a turn of our heads and October is staring straight in our faces. Time flies, wouldn’t you agree? ETC. Magazine hereby presents a few celebrations and events to look forward to this month.
Yiruma Live in Malaysia 2014
Ever heard of “River Flows in You“? Or “Kiss the Rain“? These two piano pieces are among composer Yiruma’s famous musical masterpieces. And guess what? You get to hear them LIVE this October! He is coming to Malaysia for a one night only concert on 4 October at the Plenary Hall in KLCC. The concert starts at 8 pm, so don’t be late!
Hari Raya Haji/Eid al-Adha
Even though this is a more subdued celebration than Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Hari Raya Haji, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice, is still an equally important celebration for our Muslim friends as it is a day they reaffirm their beliefs. Here is an interesting fact. After they have performed the prayers required, they would make a sacrifice using a 4-legged animal and then distribute the meat to the family and the less fortunate in the community. That’s not a requirement, though. Don’t forget to wish your Muslim friends “Selamat Hari Raya Haji”!
“Me. I am Mariah” Live in Malaysia 2014
Global R&B and pop sensation Mariah Carey is coming to Malaysia! Her last appearance in Malaysia was in the year 2004. Mariah Carey fans, this is a shout out to you! There is still time to get your tickets to her concert. Mariah will be performing at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur on 22 October, 8 pm.
The Festival of Light is coming! Here is an advanced ‘Happy Deepavali!’ from ETC. Magazine to our Hindu friends. You know what we love most about this celebration? The lights that brighten up the night, and the colourful kolam elaborately arranged on the floor. The kolam is an intricate design of colourful rice and powder. A lot of skill and effort goes into making these pretty pieces of art. If you want to be at the centre of this celebration and experience it to the fullest, head to Little India or Brickfields in KL. You will get your fill of Deepavali there.
Time to get out the scariest outfit in your closet and dust it a bit. Halloween is just around the corner! Get ready the candies and the carved pumpkins to grace your front porch. Of course, you can even go around your neighborhood for trick-or-treating – no one is too old for candy! Just don’t forget to share some with us.
Wow. There are so many things to look forward to this October. Going to concerts with friends, lighting up a lamp or two for Deepavali and dressing up in some creative outfit for Halloween – we can’t wait. What about you?
